If the person mentioned in this obituary is in fact the Daryl Peter Beswick whom I knew at school, I have entirely positive memories of a friendship shared so long ago. Daryl and I were separated by a year or so, but we shared a number of activities together - the photos below, from 1965, show him in the Orchestra (left) and the Choir (right). Sorry they are so pixelated - they are from our old school group photographs from that year. Daryl was one of those irrepressible people who seemed to remain always cheerful whatever the circumstances, and I enjoyed his company from time to time during the time we were at MHS together.
Our paths crossed only once after we left school - when we both ended up working as orderlies at Middlemore Hospital, and I can remember him running me home in his mother's old 1930s Austin 7. When I left to go back to university, we lost touch, and our lives haven't brought us back into contact since then.
He was too young to be leaving this life and my thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
May he rest in peace, and rise in glory.
(Fr.) Ross Browne.
