Dario Rigo Obituary

Mr. Dario Rigo, who was born April 23, 1951 in Fontanafredda, Italy and came to Canada with his parents and sister in 1959, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2010. He attended local schools and George Brown College. Upon completion of his carpentry apprenticeship Dario had a successful career in the construction industry from 1973 to present. He played Junior Hockey with the Westfort Hurricanes and continued playing recreational hockey throughout his life. Dario's other interests were golfing, traveling and fishing. In 1970 he met the love of his life Janet. They were happily married August 4, 1973 and raised two children Michael and Carla. Dario is survived by his wife Janet, son Michael (Kim), daughter Carla Gammond (Sam). He was a loving Nonno to four grandchildren Devan, Chloe, Piper and Landyn Rigo, Mother Pia, brother in law Gene LaPlante, sister in law Gail Tilson and brother in law Ray Tilson. Also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Dario was predeceased by his mother in law Jean Russell, father Guiseppe, brother in law Gary Russell and sister Teresina LaPlante. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9 at 12:10 p.m. in St Agnes' Church celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam with a private interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens to follow. Prayers for friends and family will take place on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in St. Agnes' Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or Ronald McDonald House Toronto.
