Dearest uncle Dan;
Thinking about how you left so soon and sudden, brings tears to my eyes. We still had so many memories to create, things to laugh at, and now that your not here to help create those memories, it just wont be the same. The other day I was reminiscing about when we all used to drive to Whirinaki together, when we used to tell our jokes in the Marae. All those kinds of things that we will no longer get to share with you. None of it will be the same without you ! Your missed and loved dearly by all your whanau uncle.

To hear your voice
To see your smile
To sit and chat with you for a while
To have you back in that same old way
Would be my dearest wish today
I love you more than all the stars in the universe
And more than all the sand on this planet

Brother Dan

Here we all gather alive, well and free
Our hearts wet with weeping
For our tama we can’t see,
Where is our brother, where can he be?
Who takes him from us
Where the sky meets the sea
His time not yet done
His waiata not yet sung
Why has he gone?
Where the moon meets the sun
His soul now is needed somewhere else in the night
To comfort those, that are lost
And guide them with his light
Shine strong bright and proud
For you’re the best of us here
And we’ll sing your song proud so you’ll be heard everywhere
Aroha, aroha, aroha e Tama
