Dan CHAPPELL Obituary

So very sad to hear the news. I was privileged to get to know Dan through the Auckland Grammar School Art Expo Committee. Once Patrick left Grammar, he stepped down but could still be relied on for advice and support. His knowledge of the NZ Art World was phenomenal - and always with a wry sense of humour. We have lost a special person whom I just always thought would be there. Best wishes to Brenda and family.

I am so sorry Brenda and my heart goes out to you and the wonderful team at Artnews for the loss of Dan. He was a great supporter of the arts and the magazine is a credit to you all. Dan contacted me in 2006 when I moved to Dunedin to ask if I would write the review column for Artnews. He was keen to see that Dunedin artists and exhibitions were represented in the magazine. For that I and many Dunedin artists will always be grateful for. May your many happy memories help you endure the pain of your loss. Kia kaha!
