Colin and Val Rippey attended Cushla's service and it was moving but genuine. First met Cushla as an RNZAF member at Wigram, then (surprise surprise) with Frank at a social gathering. I hadn't seen Frank for a good while prior to that, having been good mates at school.

Your whanau has collided with ours and we share in all the beauty that you have imparted to your tamahine who is so loved by us all and a special part of our whanau, and thank you for loving our tamatane...you will be sorely missed. A true taonga, a little bit of my idol as one wahine toa. I wish we had more catch ups, coffees and bbq's, but for those snippets of time we did share I am grateful.

You were a giver in spades Cush, a supporter and friend to so many others, through tough times and good times, resting in peace now I am sure.

Cushie la la, mentor and mate since 1975. Huge fun as our Police and Services basketball and softball manager, scouring all your contacts at various bases and cleaning them out of strapping tape. Reluctantly enduring this new Detective Constable "Put brain into gear before opening mouth, yes?" You and lovely Frankie, just married, seeing me off on my OE with tears streaming down your face. Always there at the airport to welcome me home each year. What a joy to watch your three gorgeous kids grow up and always feeling part of the family. Hilarious reunions with Di and Nats. Such a support for my incoming tours, allegedly there to follow you onto the motorway making sure I kept left but slyly interviewing the punters and reporting to me who was going to be trouble. Whispering "I´m so proud of you" as you met my first tour. WINNING LOTTO, woo hoo, over the moon! Our brilliant raft trip down the Grand Canyon (chocolate tattoo haka on my 50th). Your family trip to Arizona and us chilling, watching Frank and the kids jumping off the red rocks into Lake Powell. And our three days on the Whanganui - you so proud of Laura at the helm and never letting me forget that yours was the only canoe not to tip! Then devastation five years ago with the diagnosis. You were a formidable foe. The manner you fought was exactly how you lived - with determination, resilience and grace. I´ll miss you my friend. Legend has it you sang a brilliant rendition of Hello Dolly at a Police Christmas shindig which filled the Winter Show Buildings. I suspect you´re singing it to the angels now.
Frank, Tate, Marcus and Laura: Oh how she adored you.
Love, Cheryl

A much loved and cherished Aunt who was a wonderful role model I looked up to. Many special times spent together including our trip to Ireland where her and I searched out our ancestory.

Cushie was more than a friend, she was family. She had the ability to bring you in, and she cared so deeply and generously for those in her world.
Our fun filled, happy years shared at magical Matarangi were the foundation of a forever connection with her, Frankie and her gorgeous babies. Thank you.
We love you Cush. RIL
