Clayton BENNETT Obituary

BENNETT, Dr. Clayton (Ru). Passed away (after a short illness) in France on the 14 July 2012, in his 72nd year. Hardworking prop of championship winning MAGS Rugby 1960 side coached by Eugene Cheriton. Played his part well in that side and an integral member of it.
It can be told now that Al Roddick house boy in those days was much the worse for wear after school ball. Ru and I took Al back and put him to bed but he played up and was in danger of waking the School House. A swift right to Al's jaw and he was out for the count and did not wake until the next morning. Honour saved albeit Al had a sore jaw. Now we would be sued!

Sorry to hear of Clayton's passing. He was a great boss when we worked on sucralose in Swords, Dublin, Ireland in the early '80s. He gave me a great leg up in the business. Fascinated to hear that he was making chocolate!

BENNETT, Clayton. Clayton became a best mate when he settled in Mangawhai, with Mary, Brodie, Emily and Harry. Dinners and barbecues were filled with discussion and excitement when talking about his second home in France, to his latest taste sensation for a new chocolate to add to the Bennnett's range. His happy smile will be sorely missed around Mangawhai. You're a special friend who will always be fondly remembered by us all. Condolences to Mary and the family, from Mike, Michele, Jess and Dan Turner.
