Christopher O'CONNELL Obituary

O'CONNELL, Christopher (Chris). NZ Army no 816457. On November 19th 2018 peacefully slipped away in his sleep in Waihi, surrounded by his family. Aged 85 years. Dearly loved father and father in-law of Karen and Shane, Paul and Nina, and Eric. Cherished Poppy of Justin, Blair; Holly, Reuben, Rick, Reid; Hannah, Mitchell and their partners. Adored by his great grandchildren Pippa, Nevaeh, Indie; Tyler, Lily; Frankie, Archie; Layla and Ruby. Requiem Mass to celebrate Chris' life will be held at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 201 Port Road, Whangamata on Thursday November 22nd at 12.30pm followed by private cremation. Communications to the O'Connell family, C/-PO Box 108, Waihi 3641. "Loved friend of all his extended family".

I had the pleasure of working with Chris at Piopio College. His humour, his empathy and his amazing relationships with his students were to be admired. I loved working with Chris and really missed him when he left us.Sue Draper
