Chris was one of the most influential and positive persons I have met in the last 40 years. He was responsible for pushing me to commercialise Bungy back in the days when we had the `New Sensations Supply Company´ in Ohakune. Once the decision was made to offer the Bungy experience to the paying public both of our lives took a very different direction and we travelled the world changing other peoples lives for the better. I really loved Chris. Rest in peace my beautiful old mate. Aj and all our global familyxxx

Chris and I were close friends for over 50 years.

We shared a house at Rainbow Point, Taupo for two of those years where It was a life full of boating, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing and participating in the local evening occupation of bar crawling. Chris often waterskied home from the boatyard, on a single ski, fully dressed in his management work clothes. After being towed off the marina dock he would glide, 007 style, on to the beach near our house, quite dry. We also raced power boats together and for two years were very involved in the race boat scene. On one memorable occasion we successfully blew the gearbox apart in mid-air right under the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Can´t remember the successes but we sure had some good times.

Our house in Taupo was a great place for friends to break their trip from Wellington to Auckland. It became quite the party house, unsurprisingly there were many 3 am dips in the lake.

Time took us on various different paths. Chris was based in Tenerife for a while working on his Sky Park development, an ambitious combo of water-world and bungy. During this time he bought a yacht on Lake Tahoe which he renamed Grace after his daughter. Lake Tahoe is some 2000 miles from the nearest suitable seaport; I am glad I was able to give him a hand getting it down to the ocean and prepped for his voyage home. With just one crew he then successfully sailed it across the Atlantic to Tenerife.

Chris, you were a fearless lover of life and I shall miss you dearly.

Chris's Dad, Bob, and my Dad, Laurie, knew each other from the war and shared a birthday. My family often visited Bob and Betty and the boys at Taupo on January 11th. I remember meeting Chris when I was about 10. All the cousins were there that year too. One of them found Chris's diary and he'd written after he'd met us " ..... mainly Lesley". That absolutely made my day. First time anybody singled me out for anything!! He was such a charmer.
And that was the year John sang "The pub with no beer" on the Taupo radio!
