Christine was a dear friend from our first meeting in 1984 when she was an enthusiastic and helpful performer with the Auckland Chamber Music Players in my `Passacaglia´. (She subsequently premiered three major works of mine, two of which are available for listening on RNZ). She was an outstanding concert pianist with special sympathy for Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, but also a great chamber music player and accompanist.
Our friendship grew specially close from around 1989, when for nearly twenty years I lived in Mt Eden, just around the corner from Horoeka Ave, and we shared almost daily coffee, confidences, joys and woes, always with the important company of Franz or Stanley. In more recent years Darryl and I have lived in Swanson so meetings have been less frequent, but we treasure memories of happy afternoons and evenings, and were so glad to be able to visit last week. Our deepest sympathy to all family. RIP dear Christine.

I am so sad to hear from dear Judith about Christine´s passing. My heart is torn apart and words can´t describe how sorry I am for your loss. Our love and sympathy goes out to you all.
Christine, thank you so much for being such an inspiration, what started by me taking some piano lessons led to a lifelong friendship and leaving me with so many great memories.
Even after we have left New Zealand we always stayed connected sharing the passion for Music and our furry friends. We were so lucky to have the pleasure of hosting you and Judith in our homes in Austria and Malta/Gozo.
I´m sure you´ll meet Franz now in heaven and will watch over Gozo as an angel.
I feel very grateful to have had you in my life. I cherish every memory and we send our condolences and much love to Judith, Jocelyn and Patrick.
Much love from Gabriele and Friedrich Trawoeger with Windy

To my dear piano teacher Christine, who taught me to not be afraid to openly feel the music and play the piano with passion, and who gave me lessons lasting twice as long as they were meant to, with undivided attention - unless Franz tried to jump on to the piano stool - With love and eternal gratitude, Alison Gorbey

We are so sorry to hear of Christine´s passing. Our son, Kyan was very lucky to be Christine´s pupil. Her love of teaching and passion for music deeply enriched Kyan´s learning. She was a supportive mentor who inspired Kyan´s vision to play music.
The happy and cheerful memories Christine brought us will always remain forever in our hearts.
Lots of love from

I'm very sad to hear of Christine's passing. My two daughters Alison and Jennifer were fortunate to be pupils, and the experience changed their lives. She passed on to them not only how to play the notes, but a very special understanding of how to draw out THE MUSIC.
RIP to an extraordinary talent and personality.

The day I have dreaded....to say goodbye to my best friend.
You have been my shoulder to cry on, my mentor , my confidant, my musical inspiration. My outlet for my craziness, and my mischievous and naughty side.
Your caring for me was obvious. You also took a lovely interest in my children´s lives which they appreciated. You are a trouper and you put up with so much.
You saw so much beauty in everything.
I will promise to keep playing the piano in your memory and remember the warmth of your hands on mine, those magical hands of yours.
What an artist.
Love and thoughts until we meet again, your friend Lois ( Foxy)

So sad to learn today from Dick that Christine has died. I feel so fortunate that we were able to meet up on that lovely summer´s day. I have of course many memories of performing with Christine in NZ and the UK and experiencing her wonderful musicianship. I lost Clare, my sister, last year so I know how heartbreaking it is.All my condolences and love, Felicity.
