Dear Fiona, Duncan, Roderick, and families

We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mum. To say she was a special lady would be a huge understatement. She gave so freely of herself to her family, friends, and community.

She came over to Sydney in 2007, in my Mum, Robin Stewart's, final days to say farewell and provide comfort to her friend of many decades. Ever since then she was such a support to me, Carolyn, phoning to see how we were all doing and allowing me to tell her about my daughters' milestones, that I could no longer share with my Mum & Dad.

My family really enjoyed our stay with your parents in 2014. They showered us with hospitality and your Mum's delicious cooking.

Nicola and I stayed again with your Mum in 2015 when we were over for our cousin's wedding.

Despite her health challenges and sorrows over the years she would also put them aside for the benefit of others. When she phoned to tell me of her initial cancer diagnosis, she was so stoic and accepting of it it was very inspiring. Still, she continued her work in the community!

I last spoke to Christine soon after her birthday and she told me how delighted she'd been with your surprise visit Fiona and how you all made it so special. She was so proud of the three of you and the lives you had created for yourselves. She would always tell me about the academic and sporting achievements of her grandchildren, brimming with pride.

I will certainly miss my chats with Christine, her endless stories of the young days of your parents and mine what a memory she had! She was my window into the world of my childhood and the special circle of friends our parents had.

Her loss will be felt by so many.

We would love to keep in touch with your family and encourage you to get in contact with us should you find yourselves heading to Sydney when the bubble re-emerges.

Your Mum will always be with you as she is a huge part of who you are. You have so many wonderful memories to carry you on. We are sending our love and support to you all.

Carolyn Stewart (on behalf of Nicola and David as well)
