On behalf of the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship we send our sincere condolences to Pat and Family. Chris and Pat came to the UK for the 1998 APF Lambeth Pilgrimage and have joined us online for so many sessions over the years. Chris especially like reading his poems during the monthly online Prayer meetings. A number of them have also been published in The Anglican Peacemaker. His quiet thoughtful contributions were always welcomed. We will miss him.

Chris Barfoot was a founding member and for 13 years Chairperson of the Tamaki Estuary Protection Society (TEPS), guiding the organisation with faith, vision, and unwavering commitment. Chris, with Pat alongside, was a true steward of the environment, a mentor who inspired others through quiet determination, enduring optimism and hands on effort. Thank you, Chris.

Chris has been a pillar within the NZ Anglican Pacifist Fellowship, and other organisations promoting peace (such as the committee which worked to establish the Chair of Peace Studies, Otago University). His longterm commitment and efforts have been outstanding, consistent with his involvement in restoration of the Tamaki estuary and other projects. Our thoughts are with Pat and family.

Tahuna Torea Reserve in Glendowie is a living legacy that Chris leaves behind. Without his dedication and that of the Reserve Committee that he chaired and nurtured over many years, the Reserve would have been long lost to housing development.
Pat´s kindness and hospitality too after meetings will never be forgotten.

To Pat and your family, my deepest sympathy on your loss.

Some of us recall Chris' gracious leadership of our NZ Anglican Pacifist Society over so many years and give warm thanks. Loving prayers to his whanau. Notably Garth from our Akd Grammar years together. Good to see you still running. I stick to walking these days up north on the Tutukaka Coast
