Dear Antonia, Archie, Elliot and Gemma,
I was at boarding school - Francis Douglas Memorial College in New Plymouth - with Charles. We started together in 1967. Two of his older brothers, Rollo and Frank, were also at the school at the time. I also stayed once with the Vavasour family at Ugbrooke. I have fond memories of Charles. I am a Jesuit priest, and if it is okay with the family, I would be honoured to have the opportunity to concelebrate the funeral mass.
Blessings,
Michael Smith SJ
