SUTTON, Charles Leslie (Chook). On 27 April 2022, peacefully at Radius Lexham Park, Katikati aged 93 years. Loved husband of the late Jeanette and devoted father of Bruce. Former husband of Nola Neale, beloved father of Sue, Jenny (deceased), Ruth, Cathy, Ian, and Keith. Adored by all his grand and great grandchildren. Gone tramping in the heavens. A service will be held at 2pm Monday 2 May at Pyes Pa Memorial Park, 403 Pyes Pa Road, Tauranga. Communications to the Sutton family c/- Hope Family Funerals, 4 Keenan Road, RD 3, Tauranga 3173.

I visited New Zealand from Canada in January 1986. Chook Sutton gave me a ride while hitchhiking, hosted me overnight, and hiked the Wires Track together. I remember his pride and enthusiasm about preserving the history of the Wires Track. It was especially interesting to me since I worked with the telephone industry in British Columbia. I will never forget this day. Rest in peace Mr. Sutton
