IRIARTE, Cesar. It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Cesar Iriarte, who died after a short illness in Frankfurt, Germany. Cesar was the beloved husband of Lara for 17 years and the deeply loved stepfather of Jack. A surfer for over 40 years, Cesar was respected in the Mangawhai Heads surfing community for both his skill in the water and his calm, zen nature. He carried mana - an integrity and presence that quietly commanded respect. Cesar had an international network of friends who will remember him for his kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength. He will be profoundly missed. A surfers paddle-out memorial will be held in New Zealand when Lara returns with Cesar's ashes.
