Cary MELLOW Obituary

I can't believe that Cary has past. I've been trying to reach him on his phone no wonder I couldn't reach him. I'm so sorry, one of the kindest, cleverest, modest people always wanting to help others when he had so much to deal with himself.
Will be very sadly missed

It is with great sadness that I found that Dr Mellow had passed away. He treated me many times & was so understanding of my anxiety. May he rest in Peace.

I have only just heard of Cary's passing, I did not not Cary personally, only in a patient compacity, but still came as a shock! What a wonderful, inspirational man he was. Condolences to his family and work colleagues. RIP Cary!

To dear David, and Sara. I am truly saddened by the news of Cary's passing. I met Pauline and Cary, when they came to Melbourne for his Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at St Vincent's hospital. I was so privileged to be David's first baby-sitter, and have been lucky to have kept in touch, and maintained friendship, since then. Cary was one of life's true Gentlemen. A brilliant mind, a brilliant surgeon. Always gentle, and with a bedside manner which was second to none.
One of a kind. I hope that I may continue to keep in touch, David and Sara, - like I have done, on my visits back to NZ, and if/when you visit Melbourne. I am very honoured to have been able to call Cary a friend. All my love, and I'm thinking of you at this time. Beth.

I knew Cary when they lived on a dairy farm in Tauwhare around 1971. We were neighbours, and for me as a kid they the kindest friendliest family. I particularly remember Marion´s hospitality, Cherie´s vivacity, Eric´s quite strength and Cary intelligence and cricket obsession. Thoughts and blessing to the family. RIP Cary

It is with fondness I remember Carey. I visited him 27 years ago for a surgery and his kindness and understanding will always stay with me. I am very sad to hear of his passing. Sending my love to his family at this time. Sarajane

Went thru High School with Cary at HBHS. Always had the biggest satchel with all his text books. RIP Cary

Carey and Pauline were our lovely neighbours when they rented the home next door, in the 1980s.

I met Cary at Middlemore Hospital just over two weeks ago for a consult. His reputation, of course, preceded him. Apart from the personal qualities mentioned by others , he seemed to have a penchant for "snappy" socks.. Cary helped thousands of people during his life and will remain an inspiration for many. Rest in peace.

I am sad to hear of Careys passing. While not having seen Carey since my mothers funeral we shared many precious childhood memories of holidays together with his sister Cherie and his parents, my Aunt and uncle, Eric and Marion.

Rest in peace Cary. Several times I visited you for surgery and you were so kind and helpful. You were an inspirational man with your own health issues but always thinking of others. I truly feel sad today at our loss of you. You made the world a better place. Annemarie Kerridge

I am saddened to hear of Cary's passing. It has been many years since I last saw my cousin, but his kindness in visiting at my mother's passing, as well as his visit with me in California remain heartfelt memories. Condolences to Cary's children and his mother Marion.

I will always remember Cary´s kindness and generous spirit. A good man who was welcoming and caring whenever we met. He will be missed by many so many colleagues, patients and friends. Rest in peace, Cary.

I am so sad to hear of Cary´s passing.
I had first met Dr Mellow at Middlemore Hospital in the 90s/2000, and then had the privilege of working with him in his private practice. I will always have such fond memories of Cary. His kindness, strength and sense of humour will never be forgotten. Rest In peace Cary.

Cary Mellow was such a kind, empathetic and amazing surgeon. I was a patient of his 30 years ago and he transformed my life. I'll never forget his caring nature.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Mellow family, fellow friends and colleagues. Cary (and Pauline) have been a part of my life for a much of my life. He was an inspirational person who overcame adversity with his amazing attitude. His dry wit was one of the best.
