Captain MILLER Obituary

MILLER, Captain James Drummond. After an amazing 94 years that saw him soaring in the skies, and spending 70 plus years with his best friend and soul mate, Peggy; we said goodbye to Drum on 15 April 2018. Drum was born in Coffs Harbour, Australia in March 1924, grew up in Masterton and married Peggy in London in 1946. Drum was a resident of Takapuna for 50 years and the proud and loving father and father in law to Howard, Doug, Robert, Paul, Scott and their spouses and partners. Granddad to Mark, Becky, Thomas, Nick, Stephanie, Mathew, Sophia, Andrew, James, Claudia, Richard and Christopher. Loved brother of Malcolm and the late Doug. Thank you for your guidance, patience and love. Fly well Drum and goodbye to a true gentleman. Sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful caregivers at the Bupa, Beach Haven Hospital. A celebration of Drum's life will be held at North Shore Memorial Park, 235 Schnapper Rock Road, Albany, on Tuesday 24 April 2018 at 11:30am. Following the service, Drum will be laid to rest along side his beloved Peggy. In memory of Drum donations to the Cancer Society (NZ) would be appreciated.

It is with sadness that we only hear of James from a death notice. Our condolences to James family. Our records show that Warrant Officer James Drumond, Service Number NZ 4212431, RNZAF, Pilot, served on 75(NZ)Squadron RAF, from 19 July to 27 Sep 1945 at RAF Spilsby, Lincs - flying Lancaster MkI/III aircraft in preperation of the invasion of Japan. This was known as Tiger Force. I have been searching the globe for all surviving 75Squadron personnel, from 1940 to 2001. I would be grateful if you can send me a copy of the funeral service card for our archives, and I will add James to our Last Post records on a future 75 Squadron Association of NZ Newsletter. Ake Ake Kia Kaha - For Ever and Ever Be Strong. I have added a copy of the Squadron Badge from WW2. Glen Turner, Secretary, 75Sqn NZ Assn. www.75squadron-raf-rnzaf.com. Email = [email protected]
