Dearest Bruce,
We hold you close within our hearts
And there you shall remain
To walk with us throughout our lives
Until we meet again.
I love you!
RIP my dear brother.

Bruce and I were work colleagues who met in the International Marketing Department of Hoechst Pharmaceuticals in Frankfurt, Germany in the late 1970's. He and I became friends and continued so until his passing, despite not having seen each other for over 30 years. I will miss him and remember him fondly. My prayers go out for Tui. You and Bruce made a wonderful life together.

Very sorry to learn about Bruce passing. I was the General Manager of Hoechst Pharma when Bruce worked there and responsible for the transfer of Bruce to the Head Office in Frankfurt. I have good memories of working together and dinners in Frankfurt. Rest in peace Bruce
Sincerely

Bruce was my uncle. He was the greatest. He travelled a lot when I was young, but visited often and sent postcards from wherever he was. There were a lot of postcards. His visits were highlights of my childhood and I can still smell the cologne he used to wear. The whole house smelled of it for days after he left. He showered my brother and me with gifts at each visit and called us both "Rookie" or "Rook" for short. He loved us and we loved him.
He lived in Germany for a while and then New Zealand, where I visited him for a month in the mid-90's with some friends while we travelled around the world.
Tui and Bruce welcomed us into their home and fed us BBQ and all the beer we could drink. I think the local beer store must have noticed an uptick in sales during our visit. It was the greatest time. Tui taught us about cricket and brought us to a Cricket Max match just before the world cup. We fell in love with the sport.
They lent us one of their cars, a little white 5 speed Seat Ibiza that uncle Bruce taught me to drive (on the left hand side of the road). He made sure I understood the traffic signs and rules and was proficient at this task before allowing us to drive up to the tip of the island and back for a week. He even gave us pre-paid gas cards to get us there and back.
Uncle Bruce and I had many talks during that visit and we learned a lot about each other. I have so much left to say, and much more to learn but now it's too late. Leaving NZ was difficult as I wasn't sure I'd see him again. I did, but it was under different circumstances, and not long enough.
Farewell Uncle Bruce, you will be missed, but at least I can still smell that cologne.
