Ian was an early stalwart in the genesis of the Environmental Defence Society. As its CEO in the 1980s I spent a lot of time plotting litigation and policy ideas with him, much of it over long lunches at Tony's Lorne Street Restaurant. Ian was an active director of EDS and helped keep us focused and constructive as advocates for the environment. EDS continues, built on that strong and ethical base. He was a very good man.
