I first met Bruce through a fellow friend of mine whom Bruce had approached for the recommendation for craftwork that he would like done, so following on to introductions together both bruce and myself at my home premises we had struck an instant repore for our love to all things in woodwork, Antiques and sculpture etc and so from here onwards his enthusiasm with the project together extended into an awesome friendship with my family with frequented visits to our home especially through the summer time spent with lunch evenings , watching some of the yachting and cricket at times and of course our animals which he had a deep affection for, and in turn with this through his invitation we spent time with bruce giving him assistance where required to his other home in fielding and at another time a trip up to the far north west coast whom we met up with his circle of people and there world of antique furniture . A fantastic surprise for both my wife and i was the connections he had to our whanau in the north these are whanau from way back, So at this later stage of our journey i found Bruce an intellegent, interesting, having an eye for detail and quality, an energetic soul of good character, he would often say to me keep your sence of humour mike i thought was great , and of course with our project together he gave his word and his word was his bond and he honoured this all the way for me. It was of very sad news to here of Bruces passing, we back here will miss him dearly but great that hes part of us. Our condolences to Bruces whanau , Mike and Pat Holm.

A wonderful and generous neighbour . Super bright, great sense of humour and, of course, professor of car science. A real pleasure and privilege to have known Bruce and Jocelyn. Condolences to all the family

They say "the lighthouse-keeper´s world is round -
The only lighthouse keeper that I know
Inhabits space, his feet well clear of ground.
I say he is of light, of midnight snow.
The other lighthouse keeper - he they say
Whose world is round - is held responsible
For manning his one light by night; by day,
For polishing his lenses, bulb and bell.
My man, my friend who lately leaves, is quite
Another type. He climbs no spiral stairs:
But go he does, for good, to man the night;
To reappear, among his polished stars.
