Brian SCOPES Obituary

Scopes, Brian Charles. Passed away peacefully on Friday 18th July surrounded by his family after a courageous battle. Much loved husband of Evette, wonderful dad to Liam, Julia and Nicole. Father-in-law to Aimee, Gareth and Theo and adored Grandad to Tallulah, Tulsi, Hadley, Millen, Otis and Finn. Private ceremony followed by a celebration at Manukau Cruising Club, 2-5pm Thursday 24th July. All welcome to come along and raise a glass to the legend that was Bruno. He leaves a huge void in our lives and we'll be forever grateful to the kind, helpful, loving man he was. We will love him always. Keep tinkering away Bruno.

Yesterday

My sincere condolences to Evette and the entire Scopes family. I was backpacking in New Zealand in 2017/2018 and had a wonderful time with Brian and Evette and their family and friends. Their hospitality and helpfulness enriched my life. I will never forget it.

We, as parents, also extend our sincere condolences. We met Brian and Evette during our visit to New Zealand and immediately felt at home in your company. This time and your visit to Germany will remain in our memories forever.

I met Brian early '73 at Jensens after moving from Gisborne. We clicked straight away and at his 21st Brian [or 'Charlie' as we called him] suggested at 5am that we should go to Lake Tarawera [where our mothers both had bach's] for a days waterskiing. Brian,Evette, and her mate Eileen, and I had a great day skiing. 52 years ago! After returning from my OE with my wife Sue we went to their wedding and have kept our friendship going ever since staying at Omaha and beloved Tarawera. Our hearts go out to Liam, Nicole , Julia and the "grandies" plus our wonderful friend Evette.

Brian has been such a great friend and confidant over the past thirty years, we shared many happy times. and will miss him so much. He was always there with a helping hand and wise words When we "asked Brian" he always seemed to have the answer. Our thoughts are with Evette and the family at this sad time, you were the centre of his universe. RIP Brian, till me meet again Judi, Jenny, Jamie, Kellie McNie
