Brian and Grace became our best friends when they lived in Miami for a short time back in the 1980's. We have never known anyone who so thoroughly and genuinely reflected the love of Christ to others. My wife, Christine, developed her own way of checking herself for Alzheimer's Disease...she recites the names of the Johnston children...if she gets them all correct she knows she's OK. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the children and grandchildren...you are all very blessed to have had Brian and Grace as your parents/grandparents.

Great love resides in great people. Grace and Brian were two such people. The first time I met Grace she was lying flat on her back in the Bethlehem College boardroom ready to interview me. I knew I liked her straight away! And Brian provided me with one of my most memorable parent interviews ever! Hilarious. Much love to the whanau. Miss B.

I have only known Brian for a short time while working at the Credit Union based in the Tauranga Hospital. He was a witty man who loved a laugh and I loved his Irish accent. I am saddened by his loss as I had only just spoken to him before xmas. He was a great friend who was willing to help. My family and I would like to offer our condolences to the Johnston family. They will be sadly missed by all.

Brian and Grace were kind, non judging, selfless, loving. The kind of parent that I hope to be. I have such great memories of going to their house after Church on a Sunday, it was a house full of love and laughter. Their children are testament to the wonderful people they were. Lots of love to the Johnstons x

May you all know the comfort of God's arms around you at this time of such sadness and loss. My first memories of 'the Johnston family' was when you arrived at our home on arriving from Ireland, Lucy was only 3 months old. There are many memories of times spent together and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have fond memories of meeting the Johnston family when they arrived in Tauranga. I loved Brian and Grace's Irish accent. When my mum told me they were from Ireland, I asked " What island?" I think I was about age 7. Many fun times were had playing at their house with their children. My heart is saddened by their passing. All my love to their beautiful children.
