Brian DOWNES Obituary

DOWNES, Brian Henry. Brian slipped gently away on 24 September 2025 at North Shore Hospital aged 83. Born on 27 November 1941 in New Plymouth he was the cherished son of the late Stan and Dorothy Downes. Brian was the loved husband, best friend, and travelling companion of Fiona (nee Payne) for nearly 56 years. His pride and joy were his family - two daughters Juliet Kirk and Stephanie Bhosale, sons-in- law Blair and Kenny, and his beloved grandchildren Olive and Scarlett Kirk and Tristan and Dylan Bhosale. Brian enjoyed over 40 years in the travel and airline industry, a career marked by the lasting friendships he built along the way. His warmth, cheerful spirit and quick wit will be dearly missed by his family, friends and colleagues around the world. A Celebration of Brian's life will be held at the Pupuke Golf Club, 231 East Coast Road, Campbells Bay, Auckland on Tuesday 7 October at 2pm.
