Brian D'ANGONA Obituary

D'ANGONA, Brian. Dr. Brian d'Angona, a senior physician in the Emergency Department of the North Shore and Waitakere hospitals passed away suddenly on Wednesday October 16, 2024. Brian was born in Hartford, Connecticut in the U.S. Brian is predeceased by his parents Peter and Patricia D'Angona and his sister-in-law Sandra D'Angona. He is remembered by his family's matriarch, Theresa (DiMartino) Norman and her husband James Norman, siblings Richard D'Angona and his husband Joe, sisters Lynn d'Angona and her partner Lisandra Soto, Kelli Usher and her husband Eric and their daughter Zoe Usher, nieces, Chelsea D'Angona, Jordan Brown and her husband Dave and their daughter Isla, nephew Justin D'Angona. Plus numerous aunts, cousins and his chosen family of friends in the states, especially Bert Swartz, Dr. Patricia Connelly, Richard Whobrey, Jeff Rega and Alexander Roche. Brian was also blessed by an incredible group of caring, compassionate colleagues, loving friends and his chosen New Zealand family in his adopted home of Auckland, especially but not limited to Dev Rathore, Jeff Tuffey and Richard Neame, Jonna Ferrin, Kim Delarosa, Gina Lucas. The family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and ER doctors at North Shore hospital for their heroic efforts and the incredible care they showed to Brian in his final moments. A celebration of Brian's life will take place at 1 pm on Thursday 24 October at the Takapuna Boating Club, 39 The Strand, Takapuna Beach. Come brightly dressed to celebrate a life well lived. I recall how Brian demonstrated his future skill as an MD when as my lab partner at Loomis Chaffee he bailed me out during an ovarectomy on a rat by handling both the surgeons and anesthesiologist tasks, both of which i sucked at.

Brian was my ER doctor when I was admitted a few times at NSH ED. Hell of a doctor and so much compassion for me as a patient & followed up many times to check if I was coping mentally. Rest in peace bro
