Brett Pidgeon Obituary

PIDGEON, Brett (Moose). Aged 46. Son of Jo and the late Tony Pidgeon, proud father of Rob, Jesse and Dylan, loving brother of Rachel and Mark, Uncle to Ruby. Moose passed away 21st January 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Blessed are those that leave this earth untouched by this horrendous disease, Brett got dealt the worst, but everyone who shared his journey the past 2 years have all been humbled by his relentless courage, dignity and inner strength. Thank you to West Auckland Hospice, and to all your staff, for your love and support while Brett was in Piha. A big thank you to North Haven Hospice for providing a special place for Brett and Mum when homecare in Piha became too much. And most of all, a huge thank you to our family (Jans extra hands) and friends who helped near and afar, and shared their love, support, and time with Brett. In particular those who helped us with the 24/7 bedside shifts during his final month in Whangarei. We shared many a yarn in that room around Brett's bed, a special time, with special people. At the end it doesn't matter where one dies, it only matters who is at their side, and that they are surrounded by love. Brett had loads of that, and the unconditional love of Mum who was his rock to the finish. Brett's wishes were to have a private family cremation, which will be in Whangarei, followed by a memorial service in Piha. (Date and venue to be confirmed) No flowers please, donate the money to the hospice. Ours lives will be emptier without your presence Moosey, but rest in peace with Dad now, and all the other characters of Piha enjoying a rumbo in the sky.
