We were very sorry to hear that Blair has passed away. We both worked with him over many years. It is very sad. He was a true gentleman and a great mentor for many. We were very fortunate to have collaborated with and learnt from him. Best wishes to his family.

I heard this sad news this morning after a long overdue reunion in London with our mutual teammate David Reid last night, where as always we'd been reminiscing about our unforgettable years at Unicol football club in the 1980s and 1990s. Many of us arrived there as teenagers, leaving several years later to explore the world.
Blair's name falls frequently in such remembrances, him being the perpetual "adult in the room" whom us kids of all ages probably all somehow needed in one way or another - the "sensible old brother" whose dark looks and even darker humour de-escalated many a situation and enlightened many others. And definitely the only sober guest ever to survive and return to the Dalesford Club!
Over 30 years have passed, yet memories of those days remain some of our most vivid. All of us teenagers finally grew up, most moved on. Yet I think many of us somehow took into adulthood a wee bit of Blair's common sense, dedication and understated empathy. It's often the people who look out for you in your formative years that have the most profound effects on what you become. We can all be very grateful to have spent those unforgettable times together. We were certainly lucky to have Blair among us - imagine if Wilki had been the only person to look up to?!
Rest in peace Blair,
with deepest condolences to your family
