Betty CAIRNS Obituary

I woke this morning (Mon 7 April) with Betty in mind, and by online search discovered she has gone to be with Jesus whom she eagerly awaited, and the man she loved, her Eddie.
I came to faith in Jesus at Paengaroa in 1980 and was nourished many a time through Eddie's itinerant ministry.
Two of us attended Saturday morning prayer meetings in the basement at Pyes Pa, and always appreciated Betty's wise words in our moments of conversation on those visits.
At that time we both had young families and were pressured for time, yet those prayer meetings were windows to heaven.
Eddie and Betty were truly 'giants' in the faith, constantly sowing for the Kingdom of God. They have passed a formidable baton with encouragement to dream, to put hand to the plough and not look back, to trust Him, to run, to remain faithful, to rejoice in the goodness of God, and to keep the urgency of awaiting the Day.
Betty, thank you for your role in the harvest.

Farewell to a beautiful, kind,caring lady. I was so lucky the day I was assigned to be your lady "inwaiting", who would have guessed the great friendship that was to grow. As grateful as you and Eddie were to me, I will be forever grateful for the love and kindness you both showed me.
