I led my First Class Girl Guide hike to overnight on the farm, David rescued us from a tent site beside a rising river in heavy rain and we slept in the shearing shed. Bessie introduced me to the world of wool craft, taught me spinning, dying and weaving, and our friendship continued. My Mum Grace Elizabeth Bear, nee Beer loved her first cousin The research and effort of publishing her book Pleasant View was phenomenal, what a wonderful way to help ongoing generations of Beers connect to their family history. Bessie is such a great role model of a lovely, educated, talented and kindly woman.
