Beryl TE WIATA Obituary

TE WIATA, Beryl Margaret (nee McMillan). Beloved wife of Inia and daughter Rima. Released peacefully to the world of glorious spirit after a brilliant long life of fun, daring, laughter, love, travel, writing, acting and singing her way through it. Beryl didn't want a funeral. A very small private service will be held, and another notice will appear at a later date for a memorial celebration of her life, where there will be time to remember and share together our stories. I suspect this will involve Cornwall Park, in Epsom, which she adored. May your spirit light up paradise, darling Mum. You're with Inia at last. Aroha nui.

I was privileged to be present at her performance of The White Cliffs during the 1970s . I went with my mother who, decades later, was in the same care home. Beryl provided one of my most powerful memories, and will be missed.

I am so sorry to read of the death of your mum Beryl, Rima. She will be delighted to be re-united with her husband and Whanau. It was such a pleasure to meet and spend time with her. I would like her to know that I started working on our whakapapa again. I think she knows this.

Arohatinonui Aunty Rima. You are always in our thoughts and prayers. Your mum is at peace, no doubt soaring with the legends. Lots of love from Tussy's whanau

So sorry to hear my lovely Aunty Beryl passed away recently. I was overseas at the time. I so enjoyed talking with her at the Te Wiata family reunion 2004. Much love to my long lost cousin Rima. You are in my thoughts. Lana xx
