Beryl was a special person who loved her work as a Nurse. She was a wonderful support to me as we established the School of Nursing at Carrington Technical Institute, now UNITEC. She served on the Council of UNITEC and was considered to be a valuable member. She was wise and practical at the same time. Her last few years have not been easy for her but she never lost the essence of who she was.

I was honored to work with Beryl over a number of years. She made a huge contribution as Director of Nursing at Waitakere Hospital and naming the Hughes Block was made to acknowledge her. Rest in Peace Beryl - you are remembered with love and appreciation.

I am deeply saddened by Beryl's passing. I worked with her for twelve years in neurosurgery and we shared many unforgettable moments. We remained friends for many years after I left the department. Beryl was totally committed to her job, while retaining a sense of fun and humour. We all loved her. Sincere condolences to family.

Remembered as a Nursing Sister at Auckland Hospital and then as Matron Waitakere Hospital and then throughout my life at various nursing events.
A wonderful nurse who made a significant contribution in her various nursing roles.
Always approachable, caring with a lovely friendly and sincere smile.

Beryl was my Charge Nurse at Auckland Hospital. Remember the veil she wore. Met her again when she was Matron at Waitakere Hospital.
She was always fair and encouraging. Met her many times around West Auckland. Always smiling and fun.

Beryl was a wonderful colleague both as a nurse and later with her contribution to Unitec. An all round nice person whose contribution made a real difference.
