MESSENT, Bert Rano (Billy). Peacefully on Wednesday, 28th October 2015 surrounded by whanau. Soulmate of Esther (nee Nicholas) (deceased) and husband to May (nee Thomas) (deceased). Loved father and father-in- law of Kim O'Brien (deceased), Bessie and Moa Brady, Louise, Perry and Maui, Eliza Stickings, Bimbo, Delilah (deceased), Dale and Becky, Tom Hira, Cindy and Ken Raureti, Billy and Hinemoa, Peter and Ani, Bert and Lena, Cherie, Donald (deceased), Thomas and Julie, Rena and Haupapa Timoti. Beloved Koro tuarua, tuatoru, tuawha, tuarima. Gone but not forgotten, always loved. Dad will lie at Tipapa Marae, Murupara until his burial, Sunday 1st November 2015 at 11am.

I had the good fortune to meet Bert in July this year whilst on a school rugby trip from England, a truly humble and engaging gentleman it was a privilege and an honour to be able to share a fleeting passage of time in his company.
