I have only just found out about Bernie´s passing today and I´m so so sorry to hear this. I was his dental assistant many years ago and have fond memories of him. He was such a funny and vivacious soul! My belated condolences to Sharyn, Sarah, Hannah, James and Ruth

Michael Helyer

The Wynn Williams family first met the Helyer family about 1963, the Wynn Williams family had just arrived in Dunedin. Our fathers were colleagues in the Pathology Dept. at Otago Medical School. Both our families shared so very much in common, not least being numerous children, and of similar ages. Despite geographical separations in the 1970's , our families have continued to hold special places for each other throughout these past 57 years.
Bernard I recall was typical of his clan, generous, positive and a helper and encourager to many. On behalf of the Helyer family, I offer to all the Wynn Williams our deepest condolences.
Especially to his siblings and all their families; Christa, Damian, Giles, John, Ivo & Xavier. Sincerely, from all the Helyers; Michael, Dorothy Ann, Katie, John, Susan & Laurence.

A gentleman with a smile as big as the ocean. A caring man with a heart as big as the sky. A man who went the extra mile and gave many people back their confidence and he did it with real old school professionalism. He was a credit to dentistry, a great teacher and friend. If their were more Sharyn and Bernie teams, dentistry would change overnight for the better. We will miss this fantastic man. All our love The Fox, Taylor and staff team.

I am so sorry to hear of Bernies passing, he was a great mate while I was in Christchurch and I will never forget our annual treks to fish the Tongariro River in the middle of winter.
