Basil HAFOKA Obituary

HAFOKA, Basil. Basil died peacefully on Saturday 30th 2025 August at the age of 89. Lyndsay's dearly loved husband for 61 years and much-loved father of Gregory, Anthony, Gabrielle (Smyth) and Simon and their partners. Much loved Poppa of Connor, Maddison, Tessa, Joshua, Georgia, Christian, Malakai and Olivia - also one dear little great grandchild, Asher. A requiem mass for Basil will be held at 11am on Saturday, 6th September in the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Church Street, Onehunga to be followed by burial in Mangere Lawn Cemetery.

Sorry to read about Basil's death in the Herald this morning. Unfortunately I am working on Saturday so will not be able to attend Mass with you.
My condolences to you & your family. I remember lots of BBQs at your house & Basil telling me houses are never finished as they have to evolve as families change

To all the HAFOKA's - Basil was always a real gentleman and a great friend of my Uncle Mike Tattersall. They played rugby at SPC 1st XV together and also Marist Seniors. They coached the SPC 2nd fifteen too many years ago. Farewell to a lovely man. His wonderful nature is carried on through his children Greg, Anthony and in particular Simon.
