I was so sad to hear of Barrie's passing, having had the privilege of working with him over the years. I knew him as a voice artist of extraordinary talent and a true gentleman. My sincere sympathies to his family and all who loved him.

Recorded Barrie's magic voice over many years. Always a pleasure to work with, and always a catchup chat when we were done. An absolute Gentleman, will be sadly missed.

Back in 1974 I was posted to 2ZC in Napier. Barrie and Annette Crichton took me into their home and their family in those first few weeks. The renowned richness and warmth of Barrie's voice was reflected in the richness and warmth of him and his family. I will never forget. Both my wife Ann and I worked with Barrie at 2ZC- he was a true professional, a gentleman and broadcasting model to emulate. Thanks Barrie - you will be sorely missed.

Always a pleasure to meet up with Barrie Crichton when singing with Bach Musica - did he ever stop singing? He was very capable and supportive. I will miss him when I next go back, and I am sure fellow choristers will feel just the same.

I was really sad to hear about Barrie. As a cadet (punk) reporter at Radio Pacific in the early 1980's, Barrie took me under his wing and patiently taught me news reading. He was a prince and a professional, and showed me the utmost kindness and generosity. Pacific was like a 24 hour mad house. I've never seen a man with so much grace under pressure. I look forward to paying my respects on Wednesday when I fly in.
