Barbara MARKS Obituary

MARKS, Barbara Joan (nee Lipscombe). Passed away peacefully on 26 September 2025 aged 102 years, surrounded by her family. Loving wife of the late Carl, wonderful and much- loved mother and mother-in- law of Greg and the late Sheila, Bruce and Chris, Ross and Robin, Neil and Helen Buddicom. Treasured Nana of Sean, Tony, Emma, Eleanor, Nicholas, Emily, Alexandra, Mackenzie, Ryan, Morgan, and Reagan. Adored great Nana of Aidan, Lucas, Owen, Elliott, Oscar, Hazel, Leo, Isobel, Fraser, and Angus. A private family service has been held to honour Barbara's long and blessed life. She will be fondly remembered for her distinguished NZ athletics record and her strong devotion to her family.

Barbara and Carl called in at Ngatea SS for years. We were very fond of them. It transpired recently the Barbara is a cousin to our special friend Edna Holmes who unfortunately lost her phone number and we had tried to get back in touch. Edna turned 100 in June and is still in fine fettle. Your Mum and Dad were very special.

Lovely memories of times spent with Barbara and Carl when they lived in Tauranga. A gracious and warm lady whose company we have enjoyed. What a wonderfully long and full life Barbara had. A very tall and highly esteemed poppy at rest. I am a granddaughter of Vernon Marks and my Mother was Joyce Holdsworth (nee Marks)
