HONEY, Barbara Burke Lennihan. Died on Friday July 20, aged 80, in Auckland. Dearly loved wife of the late Eric; beloved mother and mother-in-law of Richard and Rachael, Tommy and Steph, and Sandra; adored Gran of Chris, Vincent, Rebecca, Renee, Alecia, Jake, Timmy, Cosmo, Ruby and Brooklyn; loved sister of Dick and the late Pat. Teacher, lighting technician, actor, director, builder, mother, sailor, raconteur. Thanks to the staff at Elizabeth Knox Rest Home and Hospital. Funeral Service at All Souls Chapel, Purewa Cemetery (Auckland), Tuesday July 24 at 2.30pm. Memorial Service to follow in Kapiti in a few weeks. R.I.P. Irish Gal.

I first met Burke Lennihan when Dorothy Archibald brought her home to stay at Days Bay from Mt. Holyoake University in the USA in about 1952. Such a breath of fresh air! Full of fun and laughter. She made a happy marriage with Eric Honey in Wellington in the early 1950s. I lost touch with them when I left for Europe in 1962, where I settled. I mourn her passing - she was such a bright and happy soul.
