Hello! We will always remember Avenal's incredible kindness and the hospitality that she extended to Brynn when she met Sophie at Marsden. Avenal gently pulled Brynn into the warmth and comfort of their home which we all hugely appreciated at a time of insecurity in transition. Brynn was meant to feel so special when included in Sophie's birthday party in Queen Charlotte Sounds. We all admired and adored Avenal's sweet sycamore toys!
In loving memory of a superb lady,

We were very moved by the service for Avenal today which we joined online. We will always remember her kindness and support for us when our first child Clara was born in Beijing. Avenal brought some glamour with her visit in the form of Vogue magazines, the perfect distraction for life with a new baby.

Dear John and Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences. It was a great privilege to have known Avenal. We
we have the loveliest memories of times we shared in Beijing and Avenal's many kindnesses to us, trips to the market together, and our shared life in the Congregation of the Good Shepherd (we still have the red' I am loved' lapel buttons she gave us).
Her faith, and so much else about Avenal was an inspiration to us.
Alistair, Carolyn

Avenal was such a kind and gentle person. She was always so encouraging of the service projects at COGS in Beijing, and was so interested in the Christian artists whose work was shown at the church. When I think of all the time I spent with Avenal, I can't think of a single time when she was radiating anything else but peace. God speed Avenal! You are in my heart forever!
