Dear Kathy and Joe
It is with trepidation that we note at this late date the passing of your son, Ashley. He was, like yourselves, a beacon of radiance and hope in the midst of adverse circumstances. The entire EB community watched with admiration the growth of Ashley and his unquenchable optimism. The influence of your family on our family, with our two daughters, provided solace in the early days of learning about EB management physically and mentally.
May you go well in your continuing quest for clarity and health as your lives march on. We are the richer for having participated with you and your son in the mystery of EB in all our lives.
With our regards
Dale and Keryn Johnson

So sad to hear of Ashleys passing. A young man who was determined to live at all costs. Always a pleasure to talk with him and I'll always remember the privilege of playing and talking live to air on his radio station. Much love to the whole family, I'll always be grateful for that random drop in those years ago. Big heart

I've known Ashley from birth. I lived in Waipu for decades. I always admired his and his family's strength through his struggles. They persevered. Pleased to have known him. Much love from Julia Waring xoxo.

Wow. What a life! Ash was a truly amazing being who inspired so many of us to live our lives more fully. His courage, tenacity, 'can do' attitude, incredible sense of humour and zest for life will never be forgotten and his passing will leave a giant hole in our little EB community. Thank you Ash for sharing your spark with us. Much love to Kathy, Joe and Nadya.

After Humphrey then Jillyan the Worthy family were among the first members of the extended EB family I met.
And I have followed Ash's progress and setbacks over his life with great interest, and love. What a little battler!
As long serving Chair of DEBRA New Zealand can I say what an inspiration he has been to us all, and he will be sadly and sorely missed. I hope we can come up with some sort of memorial to Ash at or for our Conference/Camp later this year. Much love to Joe, Kathy and Nadya.

Joe, Kathy Nadya & Family,
Our hearts and love go out to you all at the passing of Ash. I always remember our first meeting and Ash as a young boy with his big cheesy smile which he always wore. I drew inspiration from you Ash when my EB was at its worst and for this I thank you.
You will remain in our thoughts as "Ash the tractor man".
Love to all, Norm & Kay Calder

I am sorry to hear this sad news. I feel privileged to have meet Ash and spend time with him skiing and many other adventures. He alway's had a can do attitude and accomplished so many amazing things. I have fond memories of him attending Lexa's first birthday on Waiheke Island. Kathy, Joe & Nadya I know you will miss him immensely and my thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

For the short time I knew you Ash, you were an inspiration; I admired your tenacity and determination. I hope there is an endless supply of old tractors up there that need tinkering with.
