Condolences to Rebecca and the boys. Found out thanks to the 2023 25th Waverley school reunion where sisters can communicate in person. I was questioning Arvind's health though as the last time we messaged each other he mentioned chest pains with his new contract job. Boxer had similar issues....
A brief history of Arvind's encounters with me:
Our dad's had a bet who would arrive first in the nursing home. Arvind was 3 days late
At school at five Arvind taught me how to tie my shoe laces
Think I only visited his house twice. We picked and ate strawberrys. We played pool and Arvind showed me his photo dark room where he developed his film. His parents were well respected top people with a strong work ethic so there was limited time for childrens play.
We went to primarily and secondary school in Waverley in the same classes
Attended each other's 21st and weddings
Arvind went to Melbourne and returned to Wellington where we continued our friendship with occasional lunches. Then I moved to Brisbane
A mutual friend told me that Arvind was a champion who you had to wait in line for to see but he always made time for everyone. That's why he was so special.
Very saddened to hear of your passing my good friend

Dearest Rebecca, Kieran and Joshua and everyone who loved Arvind, I am so dreadfully sorry to hear this tragic news. Rebecca, I know how much Arvind has meant to you ever since I first met you; as you say, your rock and your best friend. I cannot imagine what you are going through but you are all so much in my thoughts. My deepest condolences on the loss of your lovely, kind and gentle partner and a fantastic dad to your boys. Much love, arohanui, from Jane Hurley

When I think of Arv it makes me smile, and although it may not for a while, I know in time it will again.

Still in shock at your passing Arvind. You were my friend, colleague (HP) and mentor at HP and even up to your passing. I will miss our telephone call chats and that laugh of yours. Thank you for being there as I found my feet at HP. The HP get-togethers will not be the same without you. I will miss you heaps. Lots of love to Rebecca, Kieran and Josh (who I feel I know although never met you) and the wider Patel and Lancashire Family. xxxxx

Arv, the only 'uncle' I knew growing up, you filled the role perfectly... From the shoulder rides of my youth, to playful jabs through the awkward teenage years, and you beautiful pride and astonishment at seeing me all grown up and getting married... memories I will treasure. I wish we'd been able to make many more. My heart breaks for Rebecca and the boys' unimaginable loss. You will be so deeply missed by all who knew you, and your absence will be felt often. Love always, Biddie

It was with great sadness that I heard of the news of Arvind's passing. I have known Arvind for over 20 years as a colleague at EDS, HP and Unisys. Over that time I have never known Arvind to be anything but a quiet, fun-loving and gentle man, always supportive, kind and considerate. My thoughts go with him and his family; of whom he spoke often.
With kindest regards

From Arvind's colleagues at Hewlett Packard (now DXC Technology). We remember Arvind as very calm, respectful and considerate - but also determined and driven. He was dearly missed when he left HP, and he will be dearly missed more now. Our sincerest condolences to Arvind's family at this time.

Arvind We share many fond memories in the 70's-80's, our families as one, Waverley & Patea. Those were the good times, they were the best times we all shared together.
Your kind heart and a warm smile will live with us forever.
