VENUS, Arthur Charles. B.E.M. Service No. NZ12573, CPO RNZN. On 13 October, 2011, at North Shore Hospital after a long illness; aged 83 years. Dearly loved husband of Joan for 58 years. Much loved and respected father and father-in-law of Garry and Jan, and Dave and Lynne. Much loved and special Poppa of Caitlin, Sarah-Jane and Richard, Laura and Kevin, Elizabeth, and Michael, and great-grandfather of Nivek. 'God saw that you were weary, the hill too steep to climb, He put His arms around you and whispered, peace be thine.' A service will be held at the Naval Memorial Chapel of St Christopher, HMNZS Philomel, (Naval Base), Queens Parade, Devonport, on Wednesday 19 October at 11am, followed by private cremation. Photo ID is required for admission to the Base. Limited parking is available. The family wish to thank the staff of North Shore Hospital and District Nurse Russell Corin for their care of Arthur.
