Hilary, I have just heard about Jock's death. Though we have seen little of you two in recent years he was a great friend and I will always be grateful to him for his support and friendship. Please accept our condolences.

Hillary, My deepest sympathy goes to you and your family. Jock was a great New Zealander setting foundation stones which have been of great value to NZ Agriculture. I know that you were a lifelong partner in that work even as you pursued your own interests in the community. Difficult as the current moment is in your life you will get great comfort in reliving all those memories you both shared .

Jock and Hillary were an amazing source of support and comfort for our group of Jono´s friends while we were at Otago and beyond. We really appreciated them and Jock will be very sorely missed. Lots of love to Hillary and family

Jock was my boss several times early in my career. I appreciate the opportunities he gave me and learnt so much from him. Among many other life lessons he demonstrated what could be achieved by standing up for your beliefs. I have a huge amount of respect for what he achieved for agriculture.

Dear Hilary (in case you don´t get our email)
Please accept our deepest condolences on Jock´ s death. He was a good friend and colleague over many years. I vividly remember working with him at Camden and doing a joint experiment that resulted in the last chapter of my PhD and the first experiment in Jock´s thesis - a most unusual outcome. I also treasure the support and advise he provided me with during my time in Ag Research. We fondly remember the good times in Camden -shared dinners, watching "The Prisoner" on tv and you and Maggie with Lynne and Ned in the golf course
Please keep in touch. Best wishes
Lynne and Smithy

Jock was the most significant NZ Agricultural Scientist of his generation. He was to the NZ Sheep Industry what C P McMeekan was to the NZ Dairy Industry. His work and foresight lifted sheep quality, productivity and generated billions of dollars for the NZ economy. Vale Jock.
