Oh, my, what a sad event to lose Tony long before his time with us was up. A gifted man, full of life, energy, compassion, intellect who was a team leader on our Harvard University soccer team way back in the mid-60's. Loved hearing him tell the story of how he ended up at Harvard with little idea what the university was all about. He left an indelible mark on all the mates he ran the field with. Even though our paths crossed only infrequently after Harvard, he remained vividly in my thoughts and will continue to do so.

My sincere condolences to all the family. What a kind, thoughtful and happy man Tony was and I will always remember him to be so. I am deeply saddened by your loss. Tony valued family and he liked keeping up family connections. Tony reminded me of my Dad. I know he will be able to meet up with my father William Wellington (Duke). I somehow imagine the two of them chatting away and reminiscing however never with a negative view, shadow or negative remark but glowing in the wonderful life they had with jokes and stories all the way. Although they lived far away from each other and I never experienced seeing them together they each had another special relationship, that of Tony's mum, Sylvia Marks. I'm sure Sylvia's kind heartedness was inherited. At just one year apart William and Sylvia grew up together in England. It was through kind letters I received from Sylvia over a period of time I lived in Europe that I sensed care, love and kindness. When I settled back in Sydney I was always happy to meet Tony and we would catch up on family news. He commented in April just gone, on ANZAC DAY... "Enjoyed my mother's stories about Bill and remember meeting him, and motorbike/sidecar, in Bath maybe when I was 10".
And scrolling through Tony's latest forwarded links I have been smiling all afternoon at the very funny jokes, his favourite songs and videos of silly happenings while preparing this message. There is one thing my dearly missed Dad wanted when he left us. That we were to have a party! And to respect his wishes we did just that together with family. I hope all of Tony's close family and close friends will be able to reminisce as I have done this afternoon in Lockdown in Sydney, Australia. I hope Denise Genevieve and Elizabeth who I have met and all the family can also be comforted by messages and memories such as mine.
So one last thing is "Cleese be with you" Tony. I will always remember you being an amazing kind and loving family man. Please give my Dad a huge hug from me. Although he passed away in 1999 I miss him dearly.
May all the family be blessed and continue to spread love and kindness.
Much love
