I wish to convey to the family of Patty Ewen my love and deepest sympathy in the loss of an amazing woman. I knew Patty for only a few years and feel very privileged to have had her as a friend. We spent many happy times together. There were a group of neighbours who arranged dinner at each others homes, and Patty often had a ladies morning tea, and none of us ever left to go home without a bunch of flowers from her garden, which was very large and apart from very heavy jobs she did it all herself.
And as well as her large flower garden there was also a large veggie garden.
Patty and I also shared a love of music and had the same piano teacher, We often compared what we were doing and agonised because we hadn't done enough practice.
Patty always took her beloved dogs for a walk---rain--hail or shine, and often in the winter I would see Patty walking up the road in hat, gloves, waterproof jacket, trousers and gumboots. To do all the physical things that she did at her age really was an inspiration to everyone.
Patty always had interesting tales to tell us about her life and travels and her family was most important to her.
I think the most amazing thing about Patty was her memory---she didn't make lists or keep a diary, she just remembered all the things she had to do. Patty you will be sadly missed by so many people and I am so glad that you were a part of my life.
Love and special memories, Claire (Franklin)
