Ann McKENNA Obituary

Ann and I started teaching at Cashmere High on the same day in early 1966. As a colleague and a family friend I followed her playing and coaching careers in hockey and cricket with extra interest. She was an excellent teaching colleague and role model for many she taught, played with and coached. Sylvia and I extend our sympathy to her family and value our memories of times spent together before and after her first spell in Canada.

Sorry to hear the news & sorry to miss the funeral which just learnt was earlier today. Farewell to a great lady & competitive sportswoman.

Much admired as Captain of the Cashmere High Hockey team. I was privileged to play with her & in later years she coached my daughter, Debra Young, who was in the Otago Women's Cricket & Hockey teams . Such an amazing sports person.

Ann was a great teammate and close friend on the 1984 NZ Cricket Tour of England and The Netherlands. She was liked and respected by all across a wide range of ages. Fond memories forever

It was the greatest honour to know Ann as a coach, mentor, teammate and friend. R.I.P Ann.

Words are few at a time like this. To David and family, know that Ann will be remembered with much respect and love. She touched many lives. RIP.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

Ann was my hero when I started playing cricket in the 60s. She was a great sportsperson and a terrific friend. My thoughts are with her family and friends at this very sad time.
