Ann COONEY Obituary

COONEY, Ann Lynette. "In loving memory of Ann Lynette Cooney". It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Ann Lynette Cooney who left us peacefully on 11 January 2026 at the age of 91 years. She was born on 10 January 1935 and was the wife of the late Desmond Stanislaus Cooney. Ann is survived by her 5 children Owen, Jan, Terry, Peter and Matthew and was the darling Nana to 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was a cherished member of our family and the wider family group who will be remembered for her kindness, love and great strength. Ann devoted her life to her husband and family and was the heart of our home. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Ann on Wednesday 14 January, 12 noon (tomorrow) at St Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, cnr Cameron Rd and Elizabeth St, Tauranga. Family and friends are invited to join us in remembering her great life and sharing stories. Rest in peace darling mother and nana. You will be forever in our hearts.

May I offer a sincere message of sympathy to the whole Cooney whanau on my own personal account, and I am sure of the many Marist Brother who came to know both Ann & Des during the
years their Des himself, then their sons were boarders at SHC. Ann was clearly a loving & dedicated wife & mother, as well as a generous & hospitable partner with Des in welcoming those among us who stayed in their home from time to time. I personally would have loved to attend er nd the farewell services but am obliged already yo two other funerals at this time.
Be assured of our Marist prayers for Ann's eternal peace, and for happy memories & consolation for her grieving family.
