I have many memories from my university and Orewa days of having loads of fun with her (tried to surf) and her family. Recently I met her after a flight for a coffee to share old memories....and blessed that I had that opportunity. She will be remembered in my thoughts and prayers. May God Bless Her.

Annie, you were the best friend, who always had something encouraging to say when my landings went a bit 'pear shaped'. Such a patient instructor who I we are proud to have called friend. The New Plymouth Aero Club was so much richer for having you here, such a long time ago now, but each time we saw you, the conversation just flowed. You jumped through so many hoops in order to attain your dream of being an Airline Pilot, and stuck with it until it happened, we admired you for that tenacity. You found the best man in Michael, and we were so happy for you both when you married. Bianca and Alex were very lucky to have you as a Mum, I think they know that though!! I am still struggling to believe we will never see you again.

To Michael, Bianca and Alex.

My earliest memories of my skydiving days in 1982, so long ago now. After a parachute malfunction, the experienced people at the Auckland club helped me get back in the air with confidence. Though I didn't know her well,it was Ann's parachute they placed on my shoulders to give me the confidence to continue parachuting that day. Does not surprise me she reached the pinnacle of her dreams. Such a sad occasion for all her friends and family. Condolences and kindest regards. Steve

Dear Michael, Bianca and Alex, we are devastated right along with you, Ann was a gorgeous, funny, loving, kind and generous woman, whom I am proud to say was a friend of mine, her wondrous smile is unforgettable.
I wrote this when I found out what had happened. It's what I imagine Ann to be saying.
With love from Maryanne (Stevenson-Wright) and Gary Hayman and Family (ex Akl base, Now living in Kapiti) xx

I am always with you, we have that link, I am part of you. Talk to me whenever you want, listen carefully and you'll hear my answers. You'll know that they are my answers, because they will be what you know I would have said!
Now and then through life, you'll All see or hear little reminders of me, when this happens, smile and think of me. Then shake your head and have a little laugh!
I will never be forgotten by those who knew me, I know that. I will never forget you.
Now put your head up, shoulders back, smile and get on with life - I'll be with you, watching you for the whole ride, flying right beside you and loving every moment.

Very sad news. Ann was a larger than life character around the NP Aero Club and great inspiration and mentor to all those who knew her. Sincere condolences to her family.

November 2, 2014

The news of Ann's untimely passing has brought back menu memories of her. Ann was my flight instructor 30 odd years ago when I first started to learn to fly. She was also instrumental in talking me into going to the yearly NZ Airwomens rally in New Plymouth where I actually met my future husband. She always gave me confidence in what I was doing and was an amazing role model. May you rest in peace Ann. Keep flying xx

Dearest Ann Beautiful thoughts and memories always.
THE PILOTS PRAYER
Lord of Earth and sea and Air
Listen to the Pilots Prayer
Send her wind thats steady and strong
Grant that her engine sings the song
Of flawless tone by which she knows
It shall not fail her where'er she goes;
Landing,gliding, in curve half roll
Grant her, O Lord a full control;
That she may learn in heights of Heaven
That rapture Altitude has given;
That she shall know the joy they feel
Who ride the realms of Birds of Steel.

Fondest love Marie Davie NZAWA Air New Zealand

Ann was encouraging to other female pilots and was humble about her achievements. My funniest memory was when she was giving a speech about the Airline career side of Aviation, at an Airwomen's rally, and produced a picture book her son had given her when she had moved onto the B747. The book was a children's picture book entitled 'How to fly a Boeing 747'! that had everyone laughing. It is a terrible shock to lose a mother so young and so suddenly, thoughts and prayers to Bianca and family.

Very shocked, and sincere sympathy to your family Ann. I remember you as a passenger holding Alex as a newborn baby. And also the day a passenger asked where the “ladies” were (it was 4 male cabin crew on the flight that day), and I joked and said that the “ladies” were flying, we take it in turns. I took her to the flight deck (in the days when we could), you were Captain and Diane as 1st officer. I will never forget that.
In Perth you brought that plane to a safe landing.
Keep doing that…..Take care,wherever you are……
