Andrew WAFER Obituary

WAFER, Andrew (Andy). Andy passed away on 2 February 2026 at Crossley Court, Orewa, New Zealand. Andy was known for his passion for Birkenhead United, Glasgow Celtic and Luton football clubs, and his beloved Irish music, which he sang along to with a cheeky smile. Born in Courtown Harbour, Wexford, Ireland, he moved to Luton, England, where he married Thelma, raised his family and worked at the Whitbread brewery. The family then emigrated to New Zealand in 1975. Andy is survived by his adored children Jimmy, Andrew, Tony, Ian and Sandra; brothers and sisters Sheila, Jim and Tony; together with grandchildren and great- grandchildren. The celebration of his life will be held at North Harbour Chapel, Dil's Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Road, Albany, on Friday 13 February 2026 at 10.30am. A livestream of the service will be available at https://share.funeral.stream/g2T1p where tributes to Andy may also be made. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birkenhead United Football Club. Please deposit to 12-3035-0503859-00, Birkenhead United Football Club.
