Andrew MACDONALD Obituary

Much love to you Robin, Dean and Sarah. So sorry to hear of Andy's passing. As a kid of 8, Andy inspired me to reach for my dreams. May he always be smiling in yours.

Andy, my oldest friend, we first met in 1952. You were my Best Man in October 1965. For much of the next 40 years, we went our separate ways, but bumped into each other occasionally. Early on you had told me how you and Robin met on the boat to England. You showed me photos of your tree moving contracts in London. We next met at Rosemary's funeral. You came to Dad's send-off in August. But when your time came, suddenly and tragically, I wasn't aware in time to farewell you. My life has always been enriched by the times we shared as youngsters. Wonderful years. Fly well, fly free. I will never forget you, or any of the marvellous Macdonald family. To Robin, Dean and Sarah I offer my heartfelt sympathy.

What a shock that we have lost our very dear friend and a name in the Rag Trade that is synonymous with quality, design, fantastic service and always a pleasure to look forward to each season's new ranges. We know you will be sadly missed, Andy, by all of us - who are retailers - and particularly your workmates and family. An absolute Ragtrader, a Past President of the New Zealand Association of Fashion Manufacturers, a New Zealand Textile and Garment Councillor, and a huge contributor to the New Zealand fashion fairs of the early 80s.
