Alma POPE Obituary

POPE, Alma Joy (Joy) (Nee Garner). Passed away peacefully at home on 25 September 2025. Joy was the heart of our family - dearly loved wife of Bernie, much-loved Mum and mother-in-law to Chris and Ginni, Erin and Elise, and Rodney and Hayley. Cherished Nana to Danielle, Chloe, Olivia, Josh, Tyla, Micaela, Paige, Teagan, Logan, and Lily. Much-loved sister and sister-in-law to Sue and Graeme, Ron and Virg, as well as her wider family. To celebrate Joy's life, an intimate service for close family and friends will be held at the All Souls Chapel, Purewa Cemetery, 100/102 St Johns Road, Meadowbank, on Tuesday 30 September at 11am, followed by a toast to Joy at the Waiheke RSA from 3pm.

Sincere condolences to Bernie & family on the sudden loss of Joy who will be sadly missed by you all and the many people whose lives she has touched. I will always remember Joy´s beautiful smile and more recently the many happy times I have spent with Joy at the Waiheke Retirement Village. Rest in peace, Joy. Much love from Sue Trevatt.

it is times like now that we reflect and regret that we did not visit Joy and Bernie more often. Her name says it all, a Joy to her family, and so well loved by them all.

Bernie we are sad to hear that your soulmate has left you, and we know that such parting is so hard for you. Sorry we can't be with you on Tuesday but our thoughts will be there

Love
