I have just accidentally discovered that my dear friend Allan Clendinning sadly passed away in January 2017.
We met at Auckland University School of Engineering where we started working at the same day.
I still remember Allan as saying to us, his colleges, that he was just informed by his doctor that his annual health check up showed he had the prostate cancer.
I left the University to Australia in 2001 but since then ,Allan and I exchanged e-mails on a daily basis.
One of his mails showed the picture of him and a big snapper he was proud to catch from his kayak.
I still can not believe he is gone and apologize I did not express earlier my deep condolences to his wife Gail and their children.
I also want to tell his wife Gail, that Allan was very brave man.
Regardless of his health condition, he always was ready for jokes and N E V E R showed any sign of fear.
Gail,I am really sad now, so sad !!!!!!!

Hello Allan,
I still remember that day when I came for the job interview. when I first met you in the corridor of building 404, my first feeling about you is you are good and trusted man. We were worked in the same office and It has been fourteen years since then. You are a kind and helpful person and I will miss you.

My sincerest condolences to the Family.
A man taken too soon who will be sadly missed.
I worked with Allan as an academic in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department, at the University of Auckland where he was the Chief Technical Officer. For a period of Allan's tenure in the Department I was Head of Department. He was always helpful, positive, cheerful and constructive when working with students and staff. A pleasure to work with.
I still have the Springbok Supporters cap you gave me man and know you would have enjoyed the Springbok 7's game yesterday.

I worked with Allan as an academic in, and then Head of Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Auckland for the last 9 years of his employment here.
Allan made a significant contribution to the safety, research experiments and practical/laboratory teaching as Chief Technical Officer. He served the Department and several Heads extremely ably for many years before retiring only a few years ago.
I remember him very fondly, as the Department does, for his achievements, quiet efficiency and shrewd sense of humour. The Department's and my thoughts go with you in this time of bereavement.
Our sincerest Condolences,
Brent Young
