Alison JONES Obituary

JONES, Alison Norrie. Born 13 February 1946 Passed peacefully away on Saturday 14th January 2023 at Saint Andrew's Care Home, Hamilton. Loved daughter of George and Norrie Jones (both deceased) and dearly loved sister of Shirley Cowin. Much loved and respected by all those whose lives she touched. In accordance with Alison's wishes a private cremation has been held. A celebration of Alison's life and to say farewell will be held on 25th January 2023 at 10.30am at a private property on the Matamata-Tauranga Road. If you able to attend and for catering purposes please SMS or phone Shirley on 02902070378. All welcome. When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not for long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that once we shared Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone. It's all part of the master plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know Laugh at all the things we used to do Miss me but let me go

What a woman, I will miss her in so many ways. Ali was one of life's most inspiring people, in her professional life as well as her personal. I will miss our outings, movies and daily talks. She was part of my family. A life lived always helping others. Time to rest Ali.

What a blessing Alison has been to so many, always with a genuine interest in people, in things outside of herself, her country life - the cows, sheep, dogs and cats who were so dear to her, the connections and relationships she created - always with a project, a story to tell (often with great laughter), a bag or bucket of grapefruit or oranges. Successful in her career and a champion in life, much love my friend. Will miss you and am richer for knowing you xx

Happy memories of school days at Orakei Primary and Selwyn College. Alison, Leslie Ellis and I used to bike home from Selwyn College and stop along Kepa Rd to feed grass to the horses. I caught up with Alison when she was living in Waitoa Street - she made the most of life with such a positive attitude.
